The Design Team
Plaza Pavers – Jack Kilby Memorial Committee members Don and Pat Halbower stand on the west side of the Barton County Courthouse, holding engraved bricks that were being considered for placement around the Jack Kilby Square. The couple have been heavily involved with the project for more than six years, trying to make the Kilby memorial, “The Gift,” a reality.

“I have never had any doubt that we can do this,” said Don, who served as Great Bend High School principal from 1964-1992. “I’ve been through too many school construction projects; I knew there would be wrinkles with this project that needed to be ironed out.”

Pat also served in area education, teaching French and Spanish from 1964-1993 at middle school, high school and college levels.
