The Committee announces receipt of a unique opportunity for our community to raise an additional $300,000 to build a monument in downtown Great Bend as a way to honor our hometown hero, Jack Kilby. Half of that amount will come from a promise for a $150,000 by an anonymous contributor, if the amount is matched by an additional $150,000 raised by Sept. 5.

W.R. and Yvonne Robbins, and Farmers Bank & Trust NA, Great Bend, initiated the first matching grant with their generous contribution of $20,000, soon followed by a generous donation of $25,000 from Texas Instruments, so there's $105,000 to go.
